Program areas at Austin Wildlife Rescue

Wildlife Rescue operates an intake center for thousands of orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals brought in by the general public from Austin and the surrounding counties. These animals are evaluated and stabilized, then brought to our rehabilitation center in Elgin each evening. Staff determine the best course of treatment and care for these animals until they are ready for release back into the wild. Wildlife Rescue rehabilitates about 60% of the animals brought into the center. Staff also maintain a telephone hotline at the intake center, taking an estimated 13,000 phone calls each year from the general public regarding wildlife
