The Autism Science Foundation supports autism research and provides funding to scientists and organizations conducting autism research, educates the public about autism spectrum disorder and advances in autism research, and supports and promotes the needs of individuals and families affected by autism. In 2021, ASF funded six new grants to study the unique effects of COVID-19 on people with autism. They also funded two new baby sibling research consortium sites, UCLA and Emory, to study early signs of autism in the offspring of siblings of people with autism as part of their mission.

Program areas at Autism Science Foundation

In 2022, asf funded 9 pre- and post-doctoral grants and 5 undergraduate research grants. Asf developed a novel "participate in research" website to match families with studies recruiting participants. Over 100 studies signed up in the first month. Asf upgraded its website to better focus on the needs of different Autism stakeholder groups. Asf - canada was launched and an office in toronto was opened. Asf collected donations and toys for displaced ukrainian children with Autism. Asf funded the first round of suzanne wright accelerator grants to increase the pace of research and dramatically increased funding for the baby siblings research consortium. Asf became a global leader in "profound Autism" advocacy and funded the first ever grants focused on profound Autism.
