Autism Tennessee (autismtn) upholds its mission and vision, updated in 2022, to better align with the needs of the community. The organization remains committed to overcoming barriers to accessing accurate information and high-quality resources. Autismtn is dedicated to spreading knowledge and empowering autistic individuals, their families, and the community. The helpline serves as a crucial resource, providing navigation support, information, and referral services across multiple states. Webinars and workshops offer educational opportunities that foster growth, while self-advocate and family groups provide critical connections and a sense of belonging. Advocacy efforts focus on shaping policies that promote inclusivity. Helpline advocates responded to over 1,060 requests for information and referrals via email, text, social media, and phone calls, from Tennessee and beyond, including Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, north carolina, Missouri, California, new york, and Montana. Requests ranged from simple referrals to complex cases, including parents of newly diagnosed children. Parents accounted for 48.6% of contacts, while adults seeking information, accounting for 24.7%, are often referred to social networking groups as their interest in peer support continues to grow. Registrations for programs increased by 215% compared to 2022, spanning educational events, family networking groups, teen and adult programs, and social events. Autismtn hosted a series of virtual "aceing the spectrum" education events, providing insights on topics affecting the autistic community, making content accessible to rural areas. Teen and adult programs offered valuable social learning and networking opportunities for individuals aged 14 and older. Participants have reported these experiences as "life-changing." The employme program offered autistic job seekers support through small group classes, resource review, and one-on-one guidance. Spectrum social events provided a supportive environment for families and individuals to build community connections, while panel discussions amplified the voices of self-advocates. Autismtn maintained an active presence on the governor's council on Autism spectrum disorder, working to improve access to autism-related resources. The organization also participated in state and local think tanks, advocacy groups, and policy initiatives. Trained volunteer community ambassadors played a key role in expanding awareness, with special focus on rural counties. The autismtn families facebook group saw a 16% increase in membership, with overall facebook followership growing by 10%. Family networking groups provided supportive spaces for families to connect and share experiences. Expanded programming included groups specifically for spanish-speaking families, arabic speaking families, siblings, and father figures, broadening access to resources for diverse communities. Autismtn awarded the captain spectrum be kind scholarship to three individuals working to end bullying. One scholarship recipient made the dean's list in his first semester. The executive director participated in multiple speaking engagements, promoting Autism awareness and inclusion in settings ranging from early childhood education to corporate workplaces. Autismtn leadership continued to implement policies and procedures that facilitate the organization's operations, including updating bylaws, program management systems, and donor management technology.
