Mosaic early learning center provides high quality preschool for children ages 0-5 in toledo's old south end. It's aim is for every child to be kindergarten ready and for every child in the old south end to have access to a high quality preschool or childcare program. We do this by raising money for scholarships for children whose parents do not qualify for state childcare subsidies. In 2023, 8 children received scholarships to attend preschool and 90% of 5 year olds tested ready for kindergarten vs. The neighborhood average of just 16%.the mosaic early learning center provides high quality early learning experiences for children whose parents qualify for state childcare subsidies and raises private funds for scholarships for children whose parents do not qualify.
Baby University increases family literacy via reading workshops and providing books for home library. 90% of participants report never reading to their children prior to attending, and after attending 89% are reading to their children more than 6 times per week.
Baby University's primary objective is to educate low income parents on best parenting practices. The Baby U class uses the evidence based nurturing parent curriculum to educate low income parents in parenting best practices while connecting them to much needed community resources. The graduate class offers Baby U graduates the opportunity to return for further education in financial literacy, parenting skill and building resources to get out of poverty. They increase their parenting skills by 40% in pre and post testing. Baby University connects families to important and necessary social services. 100% of Baby U graduates have been connected to some kind of social service with at least 3 one on one home visits.
