Routes creation and management in 2023, the bdr organization achieved significant milestones in route creation and management. Our most notable accomplishment was the development of our 12th route, the Oregon Backcountry Discovery route (orbdr). This project entailed the creation of a comprehensive waterproof map, production of a feature-length documentary film, a nationwide film tour and complete travel resources. Furthermore, bdr expanded its portfolio with the creation of two shorter, bdr-style loop Routes: the black hills bdr-x and the alvord desert bdr-x. These Routes offer similar resources to our main Oregon route, enhancing the diversity of options for adventure-seeking riders.in our commitment to serving the riding community, bdr continued to administer 15 separate facebook group pages, ensuring riders have access to up-to-date information and a platform to connect with fellow enthusiasts and ask route-related questions.all total the organization manages 16 Routes, including complete travel resources, gps tracks, route updates, route communications, and other rider information accessible on our website, www.ridebdr.com.to enhance our route management capabilities, bdr expanded the Routes manager position by hiring a dedicated part-time contractor. This strategic decision resulted in the complete optimization and standardization of all bdr tracks and track nomenclature, ensuring a seamless experience for riders navigating our Routes.
Website improvements and programs expansionsignificant resources ($31,074) were allocated to website improvements, aimed at enhancing user experience and accessibility. These enhancements encompassed updates to content, functionality, and design, ensuring that our online platform remains a valuable resource for our community.furthermore, we expanded our programs to reach a broader audience and address emerging needs within the adventure riding community. This expansion involved the development of new initiatives, the scaling up of existing programs, and strategic partnerships to maximize impact and effectiveness. ($92,137)
Community outreach, store and the release of the economic impact studybdr remained committed to community outreach, engaging with national adventure motorcycle events and rallies, and supporting local adv clubs and groups. We provided giveaways, free educational materials, and multimedia presentations to promote safe and responsible travel in the backcountry.additionally, our online store continued to offer a wide range of products and resources to support adventure riders.furthermore, bdr released a white paper detailing the results of its second economic impact study, conducted in collaboration with the university of Wyoming's center for business and economic analysis. The report highlighted the significant role of bdr riders in boosting local economies, with bdr-related spending generating an annual economic impact of over $60 million across all bdr Routes.
Safety & educationbdr produces and manages four public service campaigns, including the rideride, ride respectfully, and yield to animals initiatives. These efforts were sustained through the creation of multi-media campaigns including public service announcements (psas), development of marketing collateral, awareness videos, magazine advertising, stickers and active engagement on social media platforms.
