Program areas at Superior Rivers Watershed Associaiton
Education and outreach: in partnership with the lake Superior reserve, we hired an education coordinator to provide professional development to local teachers through the rivers2lake program and develop a network for alumni of the program. Volunteeers led five field trips in the bay city creek Watershed to connect communities to their waters.
Watershed action planning: the 10-year revision of the marengo river Watershed action plan was completed and published with dozens of local partners working in natural resources, natural flood management, and water quality in the marengo river Watershed.
Water quality monitoring: our 22 chemistry and 36 macroinvertebrate volunteers monitored 21 sites across our service area. Staff began initial phases of adding an additional 6 sites along a proposed pipeline.
Watershed restoration: staff monitored existing restoration sites for rain and flood damage.
