Program areas at Badgerbots Robotics Corporation
Educational camps and workshops - we provide educational programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (stem) for students in third through seventh grade throughout the year. During summer, we offer weekly camps for approximately ten weeks with various themes including but not limited to general programing, Robotics with lego systems, minecraft programming, and 3d printing. During the school year, we offer workshops during winter and spring breaks covering similar topics. We also have developed programs specifically designed to help girl scouts attain their stem badge. We reach more than 800 students per year through our camps and workshops.
Center for Robotics education (cre) - Badgerbots is the program delivery organization (pdo) for the first lego league (fll) program for the entire state of Wisconsin. As a pdo, we coordinate, promote, and help support fll teams through the challenges, which include building a functional robot with lego parts, programming that robot to perform missions, and developing an innovative project to address some issue of the team of the season (e.g., energy conservation, etc.). Ultimately, teams compete at tournaments that we help coordinate, including ten or more regionals around the state, two sectionals, and one championship. There are approximately 250 fll teams in Wisconsin, with an average of eight participants per team.
Badgerbots' Robotics Corporation community engagement program (cep) was developed to bring stem activities to underserved communities in the madison area. The first part of the program consists of one-time events at libraries, farms, museums, parks, etc. Where we bring a single stem activity to share with all the children then show up. The second part of the program is a much more structured (e.g., weekly) and consistent stem curriculum with specific community centers. We have reached over 250 students of color form our cep programming.
First Robotics challenge (frc) - the Badgerbots Robotics Corporation first Robotics competition program supported more than 25 youth through a successful season of regional and world championship competitions as well as year-long learning and training. First tech challenge (ftc) - the Badgerbots Robotics Corporation first tech challenge program supported multiple teams and more than 20 youth through a successful season.
