Program areas at Bajito Onda Community Development Foundation
Bajito Onda screen printing and creative programs were expanded greatly by the addition of our custom pendant making and glass Eco straws promotional program which involved over a hundred persons from the community. Persons include backgrounds of wounded warriors, homeless, ex-offenders, persons in recovery, completely blind and sight challenged seniors, veterans, Native Americans from the Indian reservation, Spanish speaking only persons and immigrants, teens and adults on community service court ordered restitution hours such as theft, transportation and sales of illegal substances, domestic violence and DUI to name a few.Bajito Onda Foundation programs provide therapeutic life skill and life recovery to 'believe in yourselves again' women suffering from traumatic PTSD, depression, anxiety and fear of places and persons not previously known to them. Who are in recovery from human trafficking, forced prostitution and violent rape by trafficker kidnappings often held naked in shackles and chains houses for days or weeks at a time till they are sold and transported to Mexico and other regions.Bajito Onda is a 'safe place' where learning to make pendants and other items created from converting glass tubing and rod into pendants and straws takes their minds off their lives in turmoil and allows them a relaxing hands-on 'bizzy break' from their mental stress.' As funds allow, all members in the program receive some sort of monetary compensation as well as donations of food, (donated to us by Midway Food Bank), clothing, transportation (Uber as well as Lyft and our own Bajito Onda Vehicle picking them up and taking them to and from various bus stops, etc.Due to their lack of housing or transportation most of them are paid in ATM cash since they do not have bank accounts or stable means. Many are living day to day in run down motels or with friends or other 'recovery day houses' where they must pay most or all of what we issue them to those persons. If we did not do so much for our participants they would not be able to attend such a valuable and safe self esteem reconstructing, empowering, corporate behavior and guidance filled mentoring program such as Bajito Onda's Del Hendrixson provides.
