Bpoc core support provides competitive and affordable it contract services to 28 cultural institutions in Balboa Park allowing the organizations to accomplish high levels of technological proficiency and Collaborative services including the park-wide data and a shared phone system. Bpocs pervasive wireless network is now providing shared internet access to 23 Balboa Park cultural institutions as well as to the public via 200 public wireless access points and hotspots deployed by bpoc. This investment in the wifi infrastructure improves the overall visitor experience, serving an average of 3700 clients per day and enabling Park institutions to utilize technologies that engage and broaden their audiences. Bpoc also provides competitive and affordable it contract services to 3 cultural organizations outside Balboa Park.
Bpoc uses a multi-platform digital marketing strategy, to inform and engage more than 12 million people who visit Balboa Park each year, bpoc coordinates with many Balboa Park partners, including Balboa Park cultural partnership and forever Balboa Park, to implement a multi-platform digital strategy that includes balboapark.org, a content-rich hub for everything and anything for the Balboa Park visitor. The responsive website features a park-wide calendar module and preference-based, curated itineraries that offer unusual ways to experience Balboa Park. Balboapark.org attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors per year and its social media pages engage over one million followers.
Digital media projectsbpoc supports cultural institutions with a range of digital media services, including website and mobile development, video production, Online marketing, and in-gallery support. Recent projects include the development of the parks first responsive website for the timken museum of art and the launch of an interactive scavenger hunt mobile app for the japanese friendship garden using new prototype technology. Multi-institutional projects include the Balboa Park commons, an Online resource library of over 25,000 free collection images, and conservation reel, a training portal with videos on conservation and collection care. Digital media services are provided below market-rate and often with the use of free, open-source tools.
Core support bpoc supports the parks outdoor informational touch-screen kiosks and provides low-cost it support to 13 cultural organizations in san diego. In 2013, we supported 585 desktops, servers, and personal devicesa 14% increase from 2012. Most organizations also participate in lower cost Collaborative services like a shared phone system. Bpocs pervasive wireless network is now providing shared internet access to 17 Balboa Park cultural institutions as well as to the public via 70 public wireless access points deployed by bpoc. In addition, bpoc has deployed 30 wifi hotspots outside the buildings, making fast, free wireless access available throughout the core areas of Balboa Park. This investment in infrastructure improves the overall visitor experience and enables the cultural institutions to move forward with innovative technologies. Bpoc has provided more than 800 person-days of technology-focused training and support for professionals in Balboa Park and the larger san diego
Balboa Park Online communications & marketingto inform and engage the estimated 12-14 million people who visit Balboa Park each year, bpoc coordinates with the Balboa Park central and visitors center to implement a multi-platform digital strategy that includes balboapark.org, a one-stop shop for everything happening in Balboa Park; mobile apps for iphone and android devices; english and spanish-language Park blogs; social media; and Online media partnerships with san diego magazine and ut san diego. Balboapark.org attracts nearly 2 million visitors per year and its social media pages engage nearly 145,000 followers.
Income is related to the Balboa Park Online Collaborative, which is designed to facilitate a change in the way museums, cultural arts and science institutions in Balboa Park approach the use of Online technology between each other and their patrons.
