Although reimbursement for services rendered is critical to the operation and stability of Baptist Medical Center - Yazoo, Inc., it is recognized that not all individuals possess the ability to purchase essential Medical services, and further, that our mission is to serve the community with respect to providing health care services and health care education. Therefore, in keeping with its commitment to serve all members of its community, Baptist Medical Center - Yazoo, Inc. Provides the following:- free care and/or subsidized care where the need and/or an individual's inability to pay coexist,- care provided to persons covered by governmental programs at below cost, and- health activities and programs to support the community.these activities include wellness programs, community education programs, and special programs for the elderly, handicapped, medically underserved, and a variety of broad community support activities.baptist Medical Center - Yazoo, Inc. offers 25 beds which can be utilized (swing) between acute care and rehabilitative care and a 24/7 emergency room. Within the facility, the hospital offers specialty clinics in the areas of: cardiology, general surgery, cataract and eye surgery, gi/endoscopy services, orthopedic, pain management, ob-gyn and wound care, as well as a primary care clinic and a geriatric day program. During its 2023 fiscal year, Baptist Medical Center - Yazoo, Inc. Recorded 528 inpatient discharges with 3,533 days of care provided, 27,702 outpatient occasions of service, 12,594 emergency room visits, 13,095 patient encounters in its primary care clinic and 404 surgical cases.for fiscal year 2023, traditional charity care charges foregone based on established rates were approximately $4,200,000. All foregone charges mentioned above are netted against patient service revenue to arrive at net patient service revenue as reflected as patient service revenue on part viii to be consistent with financial statement reporting and are not reported as functional expenses on the form 990.
