Barbershop Harmony Society - Sound of the Rockies

The Mile High Chapter returned to a full performance, travel and competition schedule, including five shows at the University of Denvers Newman Center for the Performing Arts, two holiday performances at the Brown Palace Hotel and a performance at the Colorado Freedom Memorial on Memorial Day. The Mile High Chapter sponsored its annual Acappellooza show on March 25, providing local singing groups an opportunity to compete and showcase their talents in front of a packed house at the Newman Center. The spring (Cheyenne, Wyoming) and fall (Ogden, Utah) Rocky Mountain District conventions provided members with opportunities for performance, education and competition. The Sound of the Rockies chorus scored first in the Rocky Mountain District competition again. Members of both the Sound of the Rockies and the Timberliners choruses performed at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Convention in Louisville, Kentucky in July and The Sound of The Rockies placed 7th out of 34 choruses in the international championship finals, which included choruses from Sweden, Great Britain and New Zealand. Plans are in the works to re-introduce our Youth in Harmony program and the 52eighty youth chorus.
