Program areas at BAC
Bac presents: the annual public performance series, bac presents, provides an artistically, culturally, and geographically diverse group of dance, theater, music, and multimedia artists with the opportunity to perform new work and reach new audiences. Bac presents has given many emerging artists their new york premiers, as well as presenting established artists already renowned in their disciplines. All events are open to the general public, with an average ticket price of 25. In 2023, bac held 1 digital and 11 live performances. Overall attendance was still down but our viewership was up to 5,000. Bac residencies: bac residencies provide artists with the space and resources needed to facilitate the development of new projects and collaborations. Bac residencies provide artists with studio space for a three to six week period and a stipend (artist fee). Resident artists may present a work-in- progress showing, but are not required to do so. Bac provides technical, administrative and marketing support, as well as inviting Arts professionals, journalists, and peers to residency showings. Bac provides up to 20 residencies annually. Bac rentals: bac provides affordable rehearsal space to individual artists and companies through its subsidized rental program. Bac's subsidized rates start at 10 per hour. Bac also provides reduced rate rentals to non-profit dance, music, theater, and multi-media artists and companies. Bac also offers market rate rentals to commercial Arts groups, who rehearse and present their work in our spaces. In 2023, over 50 individual artists and companies rented space in our studios and theaters.
