Program areas at Basil Technologies
Special Projects: God often surprises Basil with different opportunites to serve Him, but these opportunities do not always become one of our core programs, like Product Development or Technology Consulting. As such, we have created a special vertical, called "Special Projects" to house these different areas that we get to serve Him in and provide a space for us to incubate potential new projects.
Building Community: Part of Basil's mission is to minister and disciple believers in technology. We do that by hosting events, like having volunteers come in one night a week to work on tech projects, or hosting fireside talks to hear from experts. We also host gatherings and fellowship events to build deeper relationships. In addition, we also rent out rooms in our Basil House at below market rate, so that we can live together in community and foster discipleship.
Product Development: Building tech products (e.g. websites, apps, etc) is Basil's speciality. This is one of the ways that we serve the Kingdom through technology. One main product that Basil worked on in 2022 is Bible Dojo. Bible Dojo is a product designed to help people understand the Bible using technology. Through this product, users can experience God's Word through interactive labs that train the user to read and understand the Bible for themselves. The content of the product is curated by seminary professors, who are not only experts in their field of study, but are leaders and experts in the best practices of how people learn. The product is built on cutting-edge technology by engineers who have worked at some of the top technology companies. The product is also designed by top-notch designers, who are implementing best practices in design to deliver a powerful human-centered experience.
Technology Consulting: Another way that Basil serves the Kingdom through technology is to help nonprofits and ministries think through how technology can better serve their missions. We help organizations think through if and what technologies they should build. To help them avoid huge financial costs, we use design sprints to create rough, rapid, right (and cheap) prototypes to help determine whether or not to make the investment of building custom software. We draw from the expertise of our diverse team to help organizations make the best technology decisions possible.
