Program areas at Bay Area Anti Trafficking Coalition
Frontline trainings:we continue to provide training to workers in frontline industries impacted by human Trafficking, such as airports, apartments, and hotels. By teaching employees to identify and report the signs of human Trafficking at their workplace we are disrupting the business cycle of Trafficking, making it harder for the trafficker to effectively run their business. We also utilize a strong local network of law enforcement entities and organizations who intervene for victims and provide care for the survivors. Our unique approach allows us to concentrate on understanding and changing the environments that enable the business of human Trafficking to prosper. By leveraging research and data, we aim to transform the conditions that make human Trafficking possible, creating safer communities where exploitation is no longer an option. In fy 2024, we presented at southwest and northeast chapters of aaae (airport industry). We also presented to mpi (hospitality and travel industry partners), and to the international association of chiefs of police. We continue to work with ssi as a training platform partner in order for our online trainings to have maximum impact. Currently, 11 airports have used or are currently using our training, with atw coming online soon, along with jsx, an executive airline company.
Collaboration:the work to fight local Trafficking continues to require coordination among a diverse group of agencies and organizations, so we remain a collaborative leader and active participant in numerous regional task forces and coalitions. We facilitate collaboration and encourage institutional and relational connections to bolster both prevention and victim care initiatives.
