Wv youth encouragers network - a program to educate and encourage the youth of wv to make wise moral choices and to support organizations that are changing young lives. in addition to supporting organizations that are working with children and youth, we work to bring in educational/entertainment events designed to appeal to youth that will teach them moral principles. One of these programs is called the silver ring thing. Here is how they describe themselves, "silver ring thing is a radical response to culture's view of love and relationships. Through community-wide outreach events and resources, we defy the meet-up, hook-up, break-up culture of today and inspire teens to a pure life centered in a relationship with jesus christ." We have helped to bring this group to West Virginia 18 times, including in october of 2016. These events have been atteneded by almost 6,000 students.
Storehouse wv - to receive donated products from manufacturers and retailers for distribution to other non-profit organizations, enabling them to serve the needy, elderly, and youth of West Virginia. in july 2016, the storehouse mad ea major commitment to respond to the flooding that hit much of West Virginia on june 23, 2016. We began to assemble truckloads of materials, including tempur-pedic mattresses (3 truckloads), furniture (6 truckloads), bed sheets (1 truckload), assorted household items from walmart (1 truckload), pallets of new clothing from cabella's, kitchen cabinet sets, and hand wash. Although we receive donations that covered about 2/3 of the product costs we used our reserves to cover the remaining amount needed. in addition to the funds spent, our staff and volunteers donated numerous hours working with the flood recovery efforts. Believe in wv was one of the founding members of the greater kanawha long term recovery committee, which is leading the recovery effort in our local counties.
