Program areas at Bellevue College Foundation
Bellevue College Foundation provided grants to Bellevue College and a wide range of its programs, activities and departments to enable innovations, enhancements and excellence, not possible through tuition and state support. Among these grants were 8 competitive awards offered by the Foundation to faculty who developed proposals for specific new programs, for curriculum enhancements and for new or enhanced instructional resources. 4,168 members and underwriters help keep regional public radio station kbcs 91.3 on the air. Up to 1,100 international students were able to enroll at Bellevue College under a shared funding agreement between the Foundation and the College.
Bellevue College Foundation encourages, recognizes and rewards the creative leadership, care for students, and drive for exceptional accomplishments embodied in the full-time and part-time faculty, the staff and the administrators of Bellevue College. During this year 5 individuals, nominated by their peers and their students, were recognized with the Foundation's "excellence awards or other awards for their exceptional and inspirational dedication and service to students, to student success and to Bellevue College.
Bellevue College Foundation awarded scholarships to students that removed barriers to education that too many underserved, under resourced and unrepresented people face. 327 students received support in the form of tuition, books or fees. Additionally, 35 child care scholarships were awarded to so that parents could attend classes, thus removing another significant barrier to attending classes. Lastly, 31 student support scholarships were made to students who faced one-time difficulties that threatened the successful completion of their studies so that they could remain in their programs.
