Youthbuild is a commuity-based pre apprenticship program that provides job training and educational opportunities for at riskk youth ages 16-24 who previously dropped out of high school. Youth learn vocational skills in construction as well as in other in demand industries the include health care information tech, and hospitality. Youth also provide commuinity service through the required constrtuction or rehablitation of affordable housing for low income or homeless families in their own neighborhoods.youth split thier time between the vocational training work site and the classroom. Where they earn their high school diploma or equivalency degree learn to be Community leaders and prepare for postsecondary training opportunities employmentand personal counseling services and participation in Community service.
The cdc provides rental opportunites to tenants in the midlands area who may not otherwise be able to afford housing or commercial space.this activity is one of the primary programs of the cdc.
THE SCDOT HAS RECENTLY AWARDED A TRANPORTAION CAREETS TRAINING PROGRAM GRANS TO S2 ENGINEEERING AND CONSULTING. THE GRANT WILL BE USED TO TRAIN UNEMPLOYED UNDEREMPLOYED MINORITIES WOMEN AND DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS FOR TRANSPORTATION RELATED JOBS IN HIGHWAY CONSRTUCTION INDUSTRY. THE ONE YEAR GRANT PROVIDED PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRAINING HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR TRAINING AND COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE TRAINING FOR 30 INDIVIDUAL. iNDIVIDUALS MUST RESIDE IN ALLEDALE, BAMBERG MARLBORO, MARION AND ORANGEBURG COUNTIES. TCTP IS SPONSERED BY SCDOT AND THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINSTRAION SCDO. THIS PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITES FOR INDIVIDUALS TO OBTAIN A COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE CERTIFICATION AS HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR AND NATIONAL CENTER FOR CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION AND RESEARCH CERTIFICATION.
