Program areas at Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - New Mexico State Assn
Cerebral palsy commission - provides financial assistance for victims of cerebral palsy and their families. Also provides therapy systems and other equipment to cp patients. Currently, the cp program support cp therapy programs at public schools throughout New Mexico, provides grants-in-aid to local programs and four universities, and supports the annual orthopedic seminar with carrie tingley hospital each january. We recently have expanded the program to include adult cp patients, and have pioneered the use of the "walkable" rehabilitation techniques. the university programs include evaluation clinics covering speech, hearing and sychometric examinations to evaluate each child and provide the best tailored training and treatment programs.
Veterans service commission - provides assistance to veterans. Primary focus is vets in health are facilities such as the albuquerque veterans hospital. Various programs provide craft materials, playing cards, cameras, books and other items in Order to make the veteran's stay in the hospital as pleasant as possible and aid in the recovery and rehabilitiation process. As long as a single veteran remains in a care center, the elks will be there for them.
Charitable and Benevolent trust - provides scholarships, educational grants, medical and other financial assistance to underprivledged families. This program is open to all, not just elks members.
