Program areas at Berkshire Environmental Action Team
Science-based stewardshipwe involve hundreds of volunteers, students, and interns in Environmental surveying and monitoring. Projects include: wildlife tracking and habitat monitoring, road-stream crossing assessment to see if fish and other wildlife can pass safely under the roads, river & park cleanups, invasive species mapping and removal, stormwater pipe outfall surveying and water quality testing to catch pollution currently getting into our waterways.
Environmental education & outreachwe publish a free, weekly e-newsletter with Environmental news, calendar of events, and public notices. We maintain an extensive website: thebeatnews.org. We hold monthly community gatherings called green drinks with a different presenter each month. And we offer many natural history & Environmental events, walks, talks, and interactive programs.see schedule o for futher information.northeast wildlife trackers - the mission is to convene, network, motivate, and inspire wildlife trackers across the northeast. Through our annual conference, we aim to develop long-term connections and strategies for inspiring wildlife habitat protection by brining together a range of issues and experiences connected to wildlife.berkshire zero waste initiative - is now a project under our education & outreach program.various other initiatives and programs to protect the environment for wildlife in support of the natural world that sustains us all.
Watchdogging / no fracked gas in masswe work with hundreds of activists to stop new - and get off old - fracked "natural" gas (methane) and other fossil fuel infrastructure and promote clean, carefully sited renewable energy alternatives instead.
