Program areas at Berwick Library Association
The library contains more than 20,000 volumes of pre-printed books availabie to the public. The library is continuing “develop the audio book and DVD collections We continue to offer downloadable e-books as part of our collection. Our "library remains open to the public for 28 hours a week. We have joined MILS (Maine Infonet Library Service) which links our library via the Maine State Library with other libraries increasing the materials available to our patrons Wehave “established reciprocal membership agreements with the libraries in North Berwick, South Berwick, Lebanon and Portiand “Maine providing our members additional materials and opportunities
Demand for computer time remains strong at our library. Job seekers and others engaged in employment related activities “are major users of the public access computers. Wireless access is popular and is used during both open and CLOSED “hours. We have a staff member providing computer assistance to patrons on a regular basis Additionally, we havea volunteer (with computer support skilis) providing basic computer maintenance for the library
The library provides many free programs to the public Story time (a weekly reading program for young children) is offered on Fridays Several ongoing groups include a genealogy research group, a needieworking group,abook “discussion group as well as rotating art displays and a summer reading program We collaborate with the librariesin “North Berwick and South Berwick, which allows us to offer more programming at a shared cost. Together the three ~“Tibraries have been able to offer museum passes to local museums - in Portsmouth and Dover, New Hampshire, Boston “Massachusetts, and Portland, Ogunquit and Boothbay, Maine. We have a Lego group meetingregularly atthe “library We continue to develop programming and training around our 3D printer. We have added anumberof Presentations related to local authors and tocal historical events which has brought new patrons into our library
