Berwin Lee and Brown London New York Playwrights

Berwin Lee grants awards to Playwrights whose work has not yet been produced on broadway or in the west end. This year's winners are stephen karam (us recipient) and zinnie harris (uk recipient). They each will receive a $25,000 award (stephen karam's award to be paid to lincoln center theatre in New York and zinnie harris's award to be paid to the royal court theatre in London). Both karam and harris were chosen unanimously by the three trustees of the award based in part on recommendations from the artistic directors of lincoln center theatre in New York and the royal court theatre in London. Each recipient will receive the award in the form of a commission, with no specific time frame attached so that they have the freedom to write the plays they want without restriction.
