Program areas at Bethany House of Northern Virginia
Family assistance1. Residential program - the residential program provides four to six months of confidential shelter in the safe House to women and children escaping domestic violence. A live-in House manager attends to the maintenance and upkeep of the home, ensures the safety and security of the home, and creates an environment that is conducive to healing. Clients in the residential program receive individual and group counseling and life advancement programming.2. Life advancement programming - through life advancement programming, each client is assigned a case manager who assists her in locating and securing permanent housing, who connects her to partners, programs, and services, and who ensures that her needs such as food, clothing, child care, transportation, and supplies are met. From life advancement programming, women receive education in safety planning, career and professional development, self care, financial literacy, and other areas of learning to help them to rebuild their lives after abuse.3. Aftercare - for up to two years after clients transition out of the safe House and into safe, permanent housing, clients in the aftercare program continue to receive life advancement programming and counseling. Due to this continued care model, Bethany House sees a rate of more than 95% of women who do not return to abusive relationships.
