Program areas at Afro-Vegan Society

Veguary: For the 3rd year in running Afro-Vegan Society hosted Veguary, a program that was created to highlight the work of black vegan and vegetarian activists during February (Black History Month). Programming consisted of free online content including talks, cooking demos, presentations, Q&As, and more.
Yearlong Activism and Community Building - Throughout the year Afro-Vegan Society holds smaller events, hosts cooking demos, panels, interviews, and livestreams, virtual happy hours, tabling at events, support groups. and publishes helpful articles and guides. This year those included National Egg(less) month, collaboration with the Flip It! campaign, corporate campaigns, virtual vegan happy hours, support groups, bi-weekly newsletters, recipe ebooks, a virtual holiday celebration, and more. The events engaged tens of thousands of participants in our community over the course of the year.
Dump Dairy: Afro-Vegan Society holds a month-long campaign to empower community members to replace dairy, a food known to cause adverse health outcomes in the black community. Programming includes cooking demos, live videos, lectures, a tasting event, and providing resources and mentoring for those trying to move away from animal products.
Vegan Activism Support - Throughout the year Afro-Vegan Society provides support to vegan activists and organizations doing work that furthers the education and promotion of veganism in the community. This support can include funding, mentoring, event sponsorships, written resources, and training.
