K-12 Curriculum and Training consists of workshops designed to introduce and teach the principles of green chemistry to grades K-12 teachers using audience specific programs and techniques. All levels are hands-on and involve training educators to instruct lessons and laboratory exercises with students in a classroom environment. The Organization continuously updates curriculum, as well as creates new curriculum for grades K-12 levels. All curriculum is designed for and by educators, allowing for easy adoption in the classroom and laboratory. The curriculum is designed to replace traditional hazardous chemistry within the classroom, as well as introduce new green chemistry concepts in the classroom. All curriculum is placed on-line for educators to download free-of-charge.
The Organization is developing an online community space for the green chemistry education community to share, connect, learn and grow. The platform will feature a resource clearinghouse for green chemistry education resources coupled with networking and collaboration tools to grow capacity for educators to adopt green chemistry in their teaching and practice for K-12 through higher education. The platform will also interface directly with industry stakeholders. The platform is being created in partnership with the American Chemical Society's Green Chemistry Institute, along with educators and professionals from the green chemistry education community and is anticipated to launch in 2023.
Higher Education is a program developed to increase the adoption of green chemistry in higher education institutions. The Organization facilitates a consortium program of college and university chemistry departments and hosts working groups for the faculty to engage in collaboration to advance green chemistry. Work includes development of resources that fill resource gaps, training faculty on tools and techniques for adopting greener chemistry, and hosting conferences and seminars for sharing best practices in higher education.
