Program areas at Big Beers Educational Foundation
Educational seminars - thirteen Educational seminars are offered during event weekend; 11 classroom style with industry experts teaching on a variety of subjects, 3 free and open to the public, 2 experiential & non-classroom-based sessions. Approximately one third of the Educational sessions are focused on technical brewing processes and analyses, one third are sensory based for novices and those looking to learn about beer & food, and the final third is a random collection of the science of taste, ancient styles, homebrewing topics, and other beer-related topics. Judges can also earn continuing eduation credits for the beer judge certification program by attending specific Educational seminars approved in advance of the weekend.
Commercial tasting - the largest programming event of the weekend, this event hosts breweries from all over the world to share and discuss their Beers with attendees and other brewers. The Educational tasting program details each brewery, the Beers being served, and tasting notes, stylistic notes, statistics and comments for each. Dining events - three dining events are offered annually, combining culinary experiences with beer from a rotating selection of breweries. The events are guided by the owners and brewmasters of the breweries together with the chefs who created the pairing menus. This is Educational, experiential, and socail, supporting the industry in many different ways through each event.
