Program areas at Big Homies

Ballin on the River is a charity event BIG HOMIES completes for the youth in the seven cities that serves as a health & wellness program, a back to school give away and a charity event. We rent out the Portsmouth City Park, we build a Rubber base basketball court and Stage, invite food trucks and giveaway free food, Provide vending opportunities to over 50 companies to promote their community service projects, give away book bags full of back to school supplies to children and parents, provide music, safety programs and awareness through the Portsmouth police department, host a 3 on 3 basketball competition and provide a cash prize to the wining team. This event is advertised on local channels and is covered the day oof the event by the news stations to promote the activity for the community. It is one of our largest annual events and provides a huge give back to the community.
Our initiative to go into the neighborhoods and provide clothes to needing children is critical to their yearly success. Purchasing t-shirts, collar shirts, pants, shorts, ties, sneakers and formal shoes along with underwear and sportswear is a huge benefit to those children who do not have finances and families do not have finances to purchase them, themselves. This shows them their worth and gets them ready for the year.
The BIG HOMIES Gala is an annual event we host to provide our youth with the opportunity to share in the successes of the year that we have accomplished together. We provide music, catered dinner and entertainment for their age group to give them an opportunity to experience a nice of formal fun and surprises for their enjoyment.
Over the year, we host several programs that provide the children opportunities to experience things they need for a well rounded future. From going to professional gaming events to stop the violence events we host an arrange of programs that are open to the public and specifically for our BIG HOMIES girls and boys. The annual cost for these functions are outlined below.
