Program areas at Bike the Us for MS
Public education, outreach, and volunteering - Bike the Us for MS leads five long distance routes across the united states. Participants are required to reach a fundraising minimum to participate. During the trip, cyclists are educating communities and spreading awareness of multiple sclerosis in person, in television interviews, newspaper articles, and via social media. Cyclists also stop to volunteer for individuals living with MS across the nation. These volunteer projects include, but are not limited to, house cleaning, yard work, heavy lifting, painting, and anything else that may be difficult for those living with MS to do. During this fiscal year more than 300,000 miles were cumulatively pedaled and over 2,000 hours of volunteering were completed by cyclist volunteers.
Research and treatment - Bike the Us for MS supports research and treatment clinics across the united states. This year teams of cyclists funded clinics in Minnesota, Washington and Virginia.
Direct financial assistance and support - grants are given to support individuals living with MS by funding ramps, bathrooms, lifts, railings, grab bars, and other assistive equipment and projects that facilitate improved and independent living and improved support networks. These projects seek to improve the quality of life and safety of individuals living with MS across america and the uk.
