Program areas at Birmingham Historical Society

The Annual Meeting gathers the members and general public for talk by a noted speaker followed by a tasting of members Favorite Childhood Cakes.
The Heritage Society gathering was held at the Northington Residence. Published notes documented the builders, the residence, and its fortunes over the past 100 years.
One Hundred Years was a project that supported the illustration, editing, and publication of a memoir of a one-hundred year old Southern lady , her background, her education and her family, their homes, lifestyle, and professional and business interests. The tales unfold in Charleston, South Carolina, and in Birmingham and Bessemer, Alabama, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as the family contributes to the industrialization and economic development of these communities. The story extends into a history of the U.S. Navy.
