Program areas at BAEO
Mobilization: this program educates parent and other community supporters about public and/or private parental choice Options and transformational education reforms in Louisiana, new jersey and Tennessee.
Social innovation competition: to answer the call for change in the education reform movement, baeo launched the social innovation challenge (sic). The objective of the sic was to identify a disruptive, revolutionary idea and invest $500,000 to transform the idea into the next iteration of baeo or an entirely different black-led national advocacy organization to carry out baeo's unique mission. While the sic did not produce a revolutionary or transformative idea, two critical and important takeaways did surface from the process: 1) baeo is a leading voice and moral authority representing low-income and working-class Black families and children in the education reform space, and 2) baeo has the base of support and networks that could be leveraged to advantage and be extremely influential in today's education reform environment.
Communications: this program helps the organization to fulfill its mission participating in the education reform conversation at the national and local levels.
Bailey-sullivan leadership institute: the bailey-sullivan leadership institute seeks to address the dire need for more Black advocates equipped to champion parental choice and transformational education reform initiatives in the Black community. The institute will seek to reach this goal by establishing the weekend advocacy leadership academy which will engage individuals who are leaders and/ or potential leaders in various sectors of the Black community and provide training and networking opportunities that will strengthen their commitment to advocating on behalf of these reform policies.
Policy & research: policy & research provides analysis of state and federal policy, as well as research that supports baeo's mission.
