Program areas at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary
The sanctuary's primary program service is to provide rescue, medical care, and permanent sanctuary to animals in need for the entire duration of their life. This makes up the bulk of our expenses as it includes rescue transportation services, emergency medical care and surgeries, 24/7 animal care staffing, permanent housing, bedding, feed, medication, parasite prevention, animal safety equipment and infrastructure, and regular veterinary care for over 80 permanent animal residents as well as foster services for animals in need.
Advocacy on behalf of animals is our third program service accomplishment. Using video, social media, and community outreach we provide information on the issues impacting farm animal welfare and advocate for kinder, more equitable treatment.
Educational programs are the second biggest program service accomplishment. This includes our animal visitation, educational tours, volunteer programs, public events such as "Llamas and Pajamas" family nights, as well as field trips for students and our humane education program for high school and college students called LEAP (Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet).
