Program areas at Bloom Our Youth
The Bloom closet is a resource center for clothing and essentials for foster children living in the state of Georgia. Established in 2008, the Bloom closet annually provides new or nearly new clothing, toys, and supplies for foster Youth at no charge. To further enhance the experience, the Bloom closet is set up to look and feel like an exclusive boutique. The Bloom closet serves approximately 4,000 foster children per year, and over the course of the year, each child served receives approximately 1,000 worth of supplies. In 2021, the Bloom closet express, a mobile 20- ft. store-on-wheels, launched to serve more children in foster care across the state. The Bloom closet express allows underserved foster children to access Our retail experience at their location and provides free clothing, essentials, school supplies and toys .
Bloom recruits, trains, and supports a network of foster families and gives them the tools they need to provide exceptional care to the children they take into their homes. Bloom is licensed to serve basic level foster children, as well as foster children with significant therapeutic issues, medically fragile foster children, and pregnant or parenting foster teen girls. To ensure families who join Bloom's foster care team have the character and high standards required, Bloom performs rigorous background checks, interviews, and home studies. Additionally, Bloom provides year- round training through Bloom university (Bloom u) where foster parents receive the training they need to provide healing for traumatized chlidren. Bloom foster care also provides respite care breaks, support groups, networking opportunities and referrals to community resources. Family consultants maintain low caseloads to ensure personalized attention and a staff member is on-call 24/7 to provide support if a crisis should occur. Bloom celebrates the work of foster parents, and supporting them is crucial to providing positive outcomes for the children in their care.
