Blue Grass Resource Center

In 2019, the organization purchased the historic highland inn in monterey Virginia and began a preservation project. In 2021, phase i of the project was completed on the exterior of the building. During 2023, Blue Grass Resource Center has completed an economic impact analysis and identified an operator to lease the building when it is operational, architectural plans have been finalized and grant applications have been submitted for half of the project costs. Opportunity appalachia made a $70,000 grant to pay the architect directly for shovel-ready plans for the project the highland eda through $5000 funding from vdhcd,commissioned an economic impact study for the project. Over 2000 area residents benefit from the preservation of historic buildings.
