Program areas at Boys and Girls Club of the Yakama Nation
Summer Camp: Boys and Girls Club of the Yakama Nation Summer Camp runs 8:00am-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday. During Summer Camp, we provide various clubs including Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM), Yakama Language, Jr. Master Chef, physical activities, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) club, with various Yakama Nation programs working with our youth. We also scheduled a field trip to visit the Yakama Nation Fisheries program. Summer Camp programming costs come from staffing needs, program supplies and materials, and food for club members.
Native American Flute Club: The Native American Flute Club is a Boys & Girls Club of the Yakama Nation program. The Native American Flute Club offers teens the opportunity to learn how to play the Native American Flute using both improvisation skills as well as reading music. Club members are asked to perform at various venues for different groups. They have played for the Yakama Nation Area Agency on Aging (AAOA) Elders Day Dinner, and opened for various BGCYN events. Costs associated with Native American Flute Club come from the cost of flutes for club members, travel to and from events, and costs associated with food and drink for events.
After School Programming: Boys and Girls Club of the Yakama Nations After School Program runs from 2:30-6:30 Monday-Friday. We provide homework assistance, Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) club, Jr. Master Chef, Yakama Language club, and work with Yakama Nation Behavioral Health Services. We provide a snack and dinner for every club member. After School Programming costs come from staffing needs, program supplies and materials, and food for club members.
