This has created success within the student body so they may focus on their education without the stress of where their next meal comes from. It takes a heavy burden away from the parents and supports the economy as the ingredients are purchased locally. Brew for Impact program provides sustainable employment within farming communities.
The St. Louis program emphasizes the importance of family structure, job creation and education equipping families to focus on these things along with sustaining a stable home life. The purchase and renovation of homes in the north St. Louis city area provide safe stable housing for families but also provide wrap around services for the families. The focus is on involving the community in everything done, which includes employing local contractors for work on the homes. The families rent the homes and attend quarterly seminars that focus on the needs of their family. They also volunteer in the community two to four hours per month. A community coordinator works closely with each family to connect them to other non profit organizations and services best fit for each family. To date, this program has helped employ 113 construction workers at a 78% minority rate. St. Louis project has acquired 14 properties, 9 homes renovated, and 49 family members impacted.
