Program areas at Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa
Organization had more than 21,000 direct calls and contacts with iowans affected by Brain Injury as well as professionals requesting information and providing resources and support. Neuro resource facilitation staff members were supporting more than 6,000 active callers at the end of the year. That is about 1,000 active callers for each neuro resource facilitator. The organization distributed more than 22,000 newsletters via email, 750 resources statewide by mail and 1,000 resources by email to survivors, families, caregivers and professionals.
In fiscal year 2021, the organization provided more than 54 community-based training programs to more than 4,000 people. Topics included anger after Brain Injury, concussion, long covid, employment, setting boundaries, accessing service, headache and chronic pain, understnaing loss, Brain Injury 101, intimacy and relationship, vision after Brain Injury, frontal lobe Injury, functional changes after Brain Injury, resilience, women in correctons with Brain Injury, intimate partner violence and Brain Injury, cognitive rehabilitation, service planning, screening, self care for caregivers, best practices in services and supports, career pathways, stroke and accommodations.
