Program areas at Brain Injury Association of SC
The biasc provides resource bags to level 1 trauma centers to give to tbi patients. It also provides training to law enforcement, healthcare providers, caregivers and Brain Injury survivors.
The biasc supports ten Brain Injury support groups across SC. These support groups are forums for emotional support, education and recreation. Biasc offers financial stipends to the support groups to assist with financial burdens. Biasc also provides training to support group leaders so they are well equipped with leading the groups. Support groups are provided materials as needed for meetings as well.
The biasc host a statewide conference once a year. The conference objective is to provide a forum for the exchange of information on programs, resources and best practices in Brain Injury rehabilitation and services. The conference targets individuals with Brain Injury and family members, caregivers, and professionals working in the field of Brain Injury. The conference provides concurrent educational sessions during the day and offers an exhibitor room with 30 exhibitors providing information about community services. Biasc offers scholarships to Brain Injury survivors and caregivers who are unable to pay to attend the conference. The biasc provides support and information to Brain Injury survivors, caregivers and professionals through toll free help line. Informational packets about rehabilitation and services are custom made and mailed to individuals requesting information. Biasc has an informational website and sends out a newsletter once a year to members and any individuals who request it.
