Brazosport Cares leads the fight against hunger in Brazosport by distributing food, educating, collaborating, and advocating. The food pantry operates through community support and offers Powerpacks, a weekend backpack program that provides easy-to-prepare nutritious food to chronically hungry students. In addition to food assistance, Brazosport Cares provides referrals to social service agencies for physical, emotional, and social needs of residents. In 2019, Brazosport Cares provided 533,688 meals and assisted 8,238 unique individuals facing hunger.

Along with food assistance, the pantry provides referrals to other social service agencies to help address the physical, emotional and social needs of residents. The pantry provided 930,834 meals and assisted 10,913 unique individuals facing hunger and food insecurity.
Powerpacks is a weekend backpack program designed to alleviate childhood hunger by providing chronically hungry students with easy-to-prepare nutritious food. Proper nutrition is vital to growth and development. Without a backpack these children have no or meager meals from friday lunch until monday morning.
