Breach Collective engaged in charitable and educational work (1) opposing fossil fuel infrastructure; (2) promoting climate and clean energy solutions in the buildings sector; and (3) spreading awareness around labor rights in the nonprofit workplace, in line with our mission to partner with communities on the front lines of the climate crisis to advance justice through locally-driven campaigns rooted in the power of grassroots organizing, legal advocacy and human stories.regarding (1), Breach drew attention to efforts by city of portland officials to negotiate, and subsequently cover-up a backroom deal to keep the zenith oil terminal operating in portland without further public involvement or scrutiny. Breach also supported youth climate activists organization and media coverage of their ""climate strike"" rallies to demand action from elected officials to oppose further fossil fuel build-out. Breach further led a month-long successful workshop series for portland youth climate organizers. Breach additionally provided communications support to the protect the protest coalition, which draws attention and organizes against strategic lawsuits against public participation (slapp) actions targeting anti-fossil fuel activists.regarding (2), Breach provided policy, communications and public education support that was instrumental in persuading the city of eugene to pass an ordinance mandating electrification of new residential construction. Breach subsequently led the public communications effort to expose gas utility attempts to roll-back the ordinance. In december, Breach led coalition efforts to hold Oregon gas utilities to account for misinformation around the air quality risks associated with gas use in the home.regarding (3), Breach supported workers at nonprofits across Oregon to launch unionization campaigns, negotiate severance packages, and bargain for progressive contracts. Breach also supported the development of green union hall coalition; a network of unionized and union-curious workers in the climate and nonprofit sector, and launched an online education series through this coalition.
