Program areas at Break Away

Break Away operated the following programs in 2023:Actively Building Community Solidarity (ABCS)Hosted both an in-person program at Emory University and a virtual program in summer 2023. The ABCS are intensive training sessions that provide campus leaders, faculty/staff, and university partners with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to start or strengthen quality alternative break programs and other forms of community engagement. Student/Staff TrainingsBreak Away conducts in-person and virtual trainings tailored to the specific needs of individual organizations or college and universities. Break Away works directly with host institutions to develop a tailored training experience that will give individuals the tools they need to be effective leaders and facilitators of lifelong community collaboration. Staff Development Summit (SDS)The Virtual SDS is an annual training experience that provides campus faculty/staff and nonprofit organization staff with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to enhance quality alternative break programs and other forms of community engagement and share promising practices and resources. During this in-person training we train individuals from across the country.MembershipBreak Away offers campuses and community organizations membership services, such as but not limited to online resources, networking opportunities, consultation, to grow or sustain their programming. We currently work with almost 100 campuses and more than 400 community organizations both nationally and internationally.
