Program areas at Breaking Chains Honduras
Street outreach and community benevolence Breaking Chains is committed to the work of showing love by serving those in need via various benevolence initiatives including food, hygiene, medical and living expenses support. The organization is also committed to healing and restoring communities through redemptive relationships with jesus christ. This is exhibited through the support of church activities, street outreach, vacation bible schools and other community efforts.
Young adult ministry Breaking Chains also supports the care of socially at-risk young adults in periods of transition (trying to get off the streets, having aged out of children's home, seeking respite from poor family situations, etc.). The goal is to support activities which will lift up the young adults spiritually as well as help them move forward to achieve their goals (education, job support, etc.). Breaking Chains helps ensure that physical needs (food, clothing, medical and mental health care) are met while also promoting spiritual, social and emotional development.
Education and vocation initiative: education is a key element to Breaking the cycle of poverty for families. Breaking Chains is committed to lifting families up economically through providing access to education. Through grants, Breaking Chains sponsors 30 children for quality education opportunities through local, honduran-run schools. Additionally, it connects other children to necessary school supply resources. It also gives support to the education and vocation endeavors of socially at-risk young adults living in downtown tegucigalpa via school sponsorship, university sponsorship, and job resources.
Volunteer outreach Breaking Chains also helps support volunteer mission teams to Honduras during the spring and summer months. The team visit, typically one week at a time, to help fulfill the ministry's mission of caring for those in need in tegucigalpa. While in the country, the teams engage in spiritual outreach and street outreach, visit and support local schools, and participate in a variety of tangible benevolence efforts.
