Breast Care for Washington was founded as a non-profit, community-based Breast cancer screening organization. Breast Care for Washington offers access to screening and diagnostic mammograms with 3d technology, Breast ultrasound, and minimally invasive Breast biopsies, patient navigation, and Care coordination for all patients regardless of their financial resources. Services began in 2014, with a mobile unit added in 2019 to expand the service area footprint in the Washington dc, Maryland, and northern Virginia area. Since 2014, more than 10,000 patients have received services from Breast Care for Washington. Challenges following the pandemic lead to changes in leadership, with the medical director assuming interim chief executive officer responsibilities through 2023. Services ceased in november 2023, with a focus on reorganization and recruitment of permanent leadership for 2024.
