Bric is the new york emmy award-winning public access television organization for brooklyn, new york. We offer low-cost Media production classes and free access to television production facilities. We air community-produced free speech content on our cable network, and in-house content focused on brooklyn. In fy23, 539 certified community producers worked with brooklyn free speech tv. Brooklyn free speech supported 646 community productions through Bric's community Media studios and equipment offerings. 435 users aired content on Bric's brooklyn free speech tv channels. Bric adult Media education offered 351 courses, in-person and online to 5954 students from around the world. All classes were free or very low cost. Classes included students from 21 states and 10 countries.bric tv is brooklyn's premier video producer of local news and social justice reporting; music, Arts and comedy coverage; brooklyn documentaries; and original series programming on cable television and online video. Bric tv works with the most exciting filmmakers in the borough to create bold, groundbreaking new work that's garnered emmys, ippies and tellys, screened at the tribeca film festival and sundance all while speaking to the communities we serve. In fy23, Bric tv won an emmy, developed new distribution opportunities with key stakeholders in emerging technologies and streaming, and supported the development of eleven short and long-form films from emerging filmmakers.
Bric contemporary art programs include exhibitions, public events, and an innovative education program at our 3,000 square foot gallery at Bric house and around the borough. Our aim is to increase the visibility throughout Bric house and accessibility of contemporary art and Media while bridging the gap between the art world and global culture in brooklyn. In addition, our art education programs bring these experiences to students throughout new york. About 3,200 students participated in our schoolbased art education program and activities in 56 schools and community centers, and Bric house delivery of digital education content.
Bric performing Arts programs include presentation of music, dance, theater, film, and spoken word, and support for the development of new work. In fy23 Bric celebrate brooklyn executed 21 free shows, 5 benefit shows, 68 musical acts, hosted 115,000+ season attendees and attracted 6.9b+ Media impressions. Bric jazzfest achievements include executing a 3-night festival; activating 3 stages, supporting 118 artists in our venue, and selling 2,497 tickets.
