Program areas at Bridge of Life Davita Medical Missions

Dialysis capacity medical missionsthis is our primary program in which a team of volunteers travels to a new or existing clinic or hospital and spends up to six weeks installing dialysis machines, providing kidney care training, updating water supply systems and providing insights on clinic administration. Since 2006, bridge of life has conducted 30 medical missions throughout the world.
Enhancing care medical missionsin addition to dialysis capacity medical missions, bridge of life also provides enhancing care medical missions, which help to improve the quality of dialysis care provided at our partnering clinics. Enhancing care medical missions include the following services:training missions-increase the dialysis and patient care knowledge of the clinical and technical staff. Training missions can occur in-country at the partnering facilities or at facilities in the u.s. where trainees come for a 4 to 6 week intensive, hands-on training program.surgical missions - improve the quality of dialysis treatments by replacing catheter accesses, which are prone to infection and complications, with arteriovenous fistulas.screening missions - provide chronic kidney disease (ckd) screenings to identify earlier stages of ckd and provide interventions to slow down or halt the advancement of the disease.
