Program areas at Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders

Sports programs:the primary objective of the sports programs is to foster an environment of responsibility, respect, integrity and teamwork that will enable our Youth to be successful on and off the field/court. Baseball/softball:the 2023 summer and fall seasons were offered as a year-round program, a complete experience for all levels starting with preseason training, featuring conditioning, skill, drills, and strategy sessions then, during the spring league and continuing development in the summer academy, were advanced training and fun swap activities. New for 2023 registrations included a one-year membership to wakeman boys & girls club!basketball:the bcyl basketball program offers boys and girls from kinder through 12th grade the opportunity to play competitive basketball year-round. Operating at full capacity, our program welcomed many participants who are experiencing organized basketball for the first time. Including the bps basketball for all public schools in Bridgeport. Soccer:the 2023 soccer league for grades k-8 and premier soccer instruction year-round! Our league is led by experienced and passionate coaches who provide top-notch training. Young athletes will develop a solid foundation in soccer skills, game, understanding, and sportsmanship. New for 2023 registrations included a one-year membership to wakeman boys & girls club!cheerleading: 2023 Caribe's cheerleading program offers participants from 3rd grade to 8th grade the opportunity to serve as bcyl's ambassadors during city parades and community events. Cheerleaders perform during basketball games, bcyl events and on saturdays during basketball season with practices held during the week.
Community programs:bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders (bcyl) Inc., now known as Caribe connections, operated for nearly seven years following hurricane maria to address community needs. The Caribe club supported non-bcyl families facing housing, educational, and employment challenges. Two part-time community outreach workers engaged families effectively, leading to increased enrollment and improved outcomes. Bcyl emphasized the importance of family involvement in Youth development. The program aimed to expand by adding emotional and mental health support for parents through counseling, workshops, and financial education, while continuing to address food insecurity and housing issues.
Education programs:bcyl is committed to creating an educational environment that is nurturing and adaptable to the unique needs of each student- bcyl's math and reading tutoring program - tutoring program offers students in grades 3 to 8 an exceptional opportunity to enhance their math and reading skills within a focused and supportive learning environment. - sat prep program prepares students for the most critical aspects of the college admissions process. The program is designed to help students prepare for their first college board sat.- t.a.p.p. An innovative program tailored for career-driven high school students with a passion for entering trades upon graduation- coding and esports - middle school students who have a keen interest in coding and game design. This program is a part of bcyl's esports initiative, which connects smoothly with the Bridgeport branch of the greater Bridgeport stem ecosystem. Our program offers a unique opportunity for you to explore the world of digital creativity and innovation, where you can enhance your skills in coding, game development, and much more.- success students understanding college & career expectation to succeed- yelt program consists of 14 weeks of hands-on entrepreneurial training, where students will learn about business models, understanding the careerpreneur mindset and how it relates to their career choices.
