Brightside Theatre (bst) was granted 501(c)(3) status on november 20, 2009 and began programming in 2011 with a unique blend of award-winning plays and musicals, premieres, modern works, and timeless classics meant to reflect upon and inform our community. As the only professional nonprofit Theatre company in naperville, bst maintains a unique place in the artistic landscape of chicago's western suburbs. We proudly produce shows on an intimate scale while providing comprehensive educational programs for local youth.we proudly produce plays and musicals on an intimate scale, with an annual season that includes three mainstage productions, a musical Theatre concert series, and a kids musical. Bst was recently honored with naperville magazine's award for best entertainment venue for the 5th year in a row. We received 11 lou award nominations, and ultimately three awards, in 2020 for excellence in Theatre in chicago's north and northwest suburbs, making bst's a christmas carol the most nominated show in the region. Bst typically serves an audience of more than 5,200 patrons annually. Additionally, we are proud to be the largest consistent nonprofit employer of local artists in the naperville area.bst 2022-2023 season included she loves me, the concert version of city of angels the musical, followed by the hit the odd couple, concluding in june 2023 with our summer production of gypsy. Also in february was our bst youth production, sister act, jr.. The production included expanded accessibility programming for our community, including a touch tour, audio description, and asl interpretation.bst is proud to have provided opportunities for cultural engagement for our community during this unprecedented time. We aim to continue our outdoor summer camps and summer in the parks series in subsequent years as part of our regular programming. 2023 summer camps included two 2-week sessions of finding nemo, jr. bst sustained our 2021 outdoor programs and extended the run of our concert series production to 8 performances.
