Program areas at Bristol Bay Foundation
To support the preservation, revitalization, and education of the unique cultural heritage of the Bristol Bay region. Through department of education grant funding, these activities aim to strengthen cultural identity and community bonds by offering community culture camps, teacher training in cultural competency, and educational pathways for high school students and paraprofessionals interested in teaching careers. These initiatives serve to empower local communities, ensure the transmission of traditional knowledge, and enrich the educational experience by incorporating cultural values and perspectives.
To encourage shareholders to pursue educational opportunities, the organization issued scholarships to 273 students in 2023.
To provide additional assistance to students experiencing hardship in pursuing their educational ambitions. Emergency aid was provided to 27 students in 2023.
To support and encourage the pursuit of educational opportunities.
Fundraising activities contributed to the accomplishment of the
Foundation's exempt purposes by providing unrestricted funds for a
Wide range of activities that support the Foundation's mission
Including student outreach events and activities, regional indigenous
Language revitalization activities and planning, and other program
Functions.
Gaming activities directly fund student scholarships for higher
Education and vocational education training.
