The Association annually processes over 8,000 students from Brownsville and neighboring cities, explaining to them the importance of the history of Brownsville and its sister city (matamoros, mexico) just across the river. The museum makes available to the public a large collection of pictures and artifacts as well as
A complete library of Historical books. Through exhibits, programs, projects and speakers the museum is working to educate the population and preserve the heritage of the area.

The museum charges a minimal amount of fees for making copies of documents on file as a service to those
Who are doing Historical research.
The Association sponsors events such as walking tours of histoical downtown Brownsville and makes available
Cd narratives to enable participants to tour sites without a guide if they choose to do so.
The Association charges its memebers a minimal amount of dues to encourage more citizens to participate in
Preservation of the citys heritage.
The museum has other revenues from collections projects and public programs.
