Program areas at Bucks-Mont Collaborative

Virtual monthly membership meetings feature speakers on timely community topics and needs. These monthly meetings convene health and human service professionals from throughout the region for collective learning opportunities, removing organizational silos to share dialogue, best practices, and form relationships that strengthen the sector, work and region. We also host a bimonthly executive director conversation series for leaders to connect, build relationships, and have a confidential space to share needs and resources.e-newsletters, website, and social media channels update members and the commmunity on opportunities within the sector for training, collaboration, new services, jobs, events, and other resources. Our training institute offers free professional development opportunities for organizations in our community in three focus areas: organizational and leadership development; trauma education; and social equity and justice.our annual summit attracts individuals from throughout the region to learn from leaders in the field such as our 2024 summit titled, 'strengthening our leadership, our organizations, and our community' with keynote speakers: dr. sandra bloom, dr. darlyne bailey, and dr. roberta waite.in partnership with the interagency council of norristown (icn) and tri-county community network (tcn), we implemented year three of the racial equity learning community, a cross-county, multi-sector initiative for organizations in bucks and montgomery counties to come together to learn, build relationships, and take action that deepens organizational and collective capacity to advance racial equity and justice. We also are committed to a joint program venture together titled 'c3' that seeks to deepen our Collaborative work together through shared trainings, networking, resource sharing, and advocacy.the Collaborative advocacy network (can) is committed to dialogue and collective action that educates, mobilizes, and sustains impact in the health and human services sector in bucks and montgomery counties. We held multiple capacity building trainings throughout the year, and a day of advocacy on may 7, 2024 in harrisburg to advocate for housing affordability and a strong behavioral healthcare system in our region.past accomplishments:hosted 14 community summits geared to raising awareness of issuesand fostering post-summit action.2023: social change and solidarity2022: our evolving journey: adverse to healing community environments2021: trauma and resilience at the intersection of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice2020: postponed to 2021 due to covid-192019: trauma and resilience: from overwhelmed to finding hope2017: how change happens: why some social movements succeed while others don't2016: trauma & resilience2015: trauma & adversity & what helps heal2014: cohesive community preparedness for emergencies in montgomerycounty2012: building a stronger community through conversations that matter,with author and community builder peter block2011: unleashing the power of community to reduce youth substanceabuse2010: meeting the challenges of elder caregiving2009: protecting our children's future: uniting our community toreduce childhood obesity2008: leveraging the power of Collaborative partnerships2007: cultural competence2006: tune in, turn on, drop in summit on the needs and wants of agingbaby boomers-how to serve them well and engage them in volunteerismadministered the north penn nonprofit academy from 2004 through june 2010 providing leadership training and development to more than 400 nonprofit leaders.secured the lead grant to fund a dental clinic for our region's un- andunder-insured residents. The clinic was a service of north penn visiting nurse association (which was acquired by abington health in 2013) and, since january 2007, has provided access to dental care for thousands of individuals.began the dialogue in our (former) financial stability cabinet that grew into the your way home montgomery county housing/homelessness providers' centralized intake system.provided the spark, through our (former) financial stability cabinet, to begin a volunteer income tax assistance program in our community. Since its inception in 2009, the program has returned millions of dollars to low and moderate-income families. The former north penn united way provided the leadership for this program, supported by many of our member agencies.
