Program areas at Building Bridges
Building Bridges provided free HIV testing by trained staff using two types of oral fluid test, OraQuick Advance and OraSure. Oral testing was provided to the community at the Building Bridges building and through community outreach programs. During fiscal year 2014, Building Bridges, Inc. tested 848 individuals for HIV.
Building Bridges, Inc. provided HIV education to individuals and the community through presentations at health fairs and outreach programs. In fiscal year 2014, the organization gave 119 HIV presentations reaching 1,300 people, received 57 referrals for services, and distributed over 91,000 contraceptives during the year serving approximately 1,363 people.
Building Bridges provided support groups to participants as well as individual and group counseling from trained counselors to include psychologists and social workers. Support groups offered meals, transportation to appointments and meetings, medical, clinical, and practical advice to participants to help improve a sense of well-being and quality of life. In fiscal year 2014, 530 individuals participated in interventions.
