Refugee Case Management: Our case managers provide a wide range of services to individual refugees and families, including assistance with employment, housing, accessing public benefits, care for the elderly, accessing the legal system, dealing with domestic violence, naturalization, and education.
Refugee education and training: BCNH taught English and American Civics to refugees, including older refugees, to prepare them for citizenship. Staff provided links between schools and refugee parents of children in school, and supported learning activities for refugee children during the summer. Staff trained parents in digital literacy and helped clients obtain financial literacy skills. Staff helped clients enroll in formal job training programs through The Adult Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act System.
Refugee Health Promotion and access to health care, mental health, and vaccinations. Our case managers and community health workers continued to promote COVID vaccinations, TB tests, and other immunizations. Staff also assisted refugees seeking or needing medical and mental health care, and trained parents in childhood nutrition, oral health, and where to purchase healthy foods.
